History & Structure of Huang's Medicine

Basic Structure of the Huang’s Medicine
Huang’s and the interrelationships have been utilized to discuss the structure of the human body, interactions of organs, differential diagnosis, medications, physiological phenomena and changes, etc. to reflect the holistic view of body and nature.

Pathological Perspective of Huang’s Medicine
Huang’s Medicine uses the ‘Numerology Secret Map’, ‘The Fifty Critical Points of Life’, ‘Circadian Qi and Blood flow Diagram’ and ‘Life Cycle Diagram’ to reveal the biological rhythm of human body. It diagnoses the pathological changes of human body through exploring the physiological and numerological rules of human life.

Diagnostic Methodologies

The Five Diagnostic Techniques (Wu Zhen He Can Lun Zhi) are the basic methodologies used for diagnosis and treatment of disease. The practitioners use their eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and hands as diagnostic tools; and the patients’ eyes, ears, mouth, nose and hands as the diagnosis site, to obtain the patients’ clinical information, to perform the differential diagnosis and design a treatment plan.

Thousand Steps Pulse Taking
Thousand Steps Pulse Taking Technique is the key component of Huang’s Medicine. It is the most critical part of the Five Diagnostic Techniques (using hand). Consistent with the general concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Huang’s medicine believes all of the five diagnostic techniques are important, however, pulse-talking is the most predominant technique, which is assisted or supported by other four techniques. Thousand Steps Pulse Taking is not only a pulse-taking method; it is also an independent diagnosing system. It differs from the traditional pulse-taking diagnosis which has 28 pulse conditions. There are totally 1521 different pulse conditions in Huang’s Medicine. Among these pulse conditions, 21 pulses have been defined on the basis of the heart strength (strong or weak), heart rate (fast or slow) and heart rhythm (irregular or not). Importantly, the heart, blood, vessel and nerve pulses are intermixed and form another 1422 different pulse conditions, which consist 21 heart pulses, 8 blood pulses, 70 vessel pulses. Thousand Steps Pulse Taking diagnostic method can provide insight into the pathological changes and interactions of the body parts, thereby obtaining incredible accurate differential diagnosis of the diseases.

Treatment Principles

Huang’s Quan theory (Fen Quan Shi Zhi) is the major treatment principle of Huang’s Medicine on the basis of the Five Diagnostic Techniques. The diagnosis/treatment strategies were developed through the analysis of the pattern identification and differentiations of various pulse conditions upon the Quan theory of external and internal applications. It emphasizes that the human body is an integrated entity. The treatment strategies must focus on the holistic concepts, which is in consideration of the relationships among the organs, Qi, blood and meridians; and the interactions within the whole-body entity. It is important to ‘identifying the abnormal pulsation, treating the aetiological points, considering the function of the whole-body entity’.
Overall, the general ‘Quan’ theory utilizes the ‘Quan’ (circle) to describe and define everything in the universe. Huang’s medicine utilizes the general ‘Quan’ theory in the medical diagnosis/treatment aspects, and established Huang’s ‘Quan’ theory, which consist ‘Eight Quan of External Application, ‘Eight Quan of Internal Application’, ‘Eight Quan of Observation’ ‘Eight Quan of Identification and Differentiation’ ‘Eight Quan of Diagnosis and Treatment’. Huang’s Medicine uses the Quan theory to understand the interactions and influences of the internal and external factors to the individual’s health. It enables the practitioners accurately identify and differentiate the diseases, and then make the diagnosis and set up the treatment strategies. Moreover, Huang’s Medicine also covers the contents of diseases categorizing, medication knowledge, health care principles and medical ethical standards.
